Dr. Kim is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon as well as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons (FACS).  Obtaining Fellowship status with the College is one of the highest honors granted to a surgeon who has excelled in leadership, innovation, research and patient care.  There are only a handful of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons who has been invited into this prestigious fellowship.

Dr. Kim completed his training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC and LAC+USC Medical Center.  During his time, he completed Medical School at USC Keck School of Medicine placing him in a small group of Oral Surgeons licensed to practice both dentistry and medicine.  He also spent a considerable amount of time at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles learning how to deal with complex pediatric oral and maxillofacial problems.

He was then recruited to Southern California Permanente Medical Group where he spent his time developing surgical techniques specifically aimed to treat complex temporomandibular joint problems as well as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).  He also held academic positions at UCLA School of Dentistry and USC concurrently, training future oral & maxillofacial surgeons as well as international fellows from Korea, Equador, Mexico, Sweden, and Iran.

Dr. Kim has published in peer-reviewed journals as well as medical textbooks.  Due to his accomplishments, he has been invited to speak internationally.  He currently holds an academic position in the Department of Head & Neck Surgery at UCI Medical School as Clinical Assistant Professor.  He maintains hospital privileges at Hoag Presbyterian Hospital in Irvine and Newport Beach, as well as UCI Medical Center.

Due to his experience in dealing with simple dental implant therapy to the most complex implant complications, he was nominated to be the Key Opinion Leader in Orange County for Straumann, USA, one of the leading manufacturers of dental implants and bone regenerative materials.

Dr. Kim gives back to the community locally and globally.  He supports local schools in Irvine, CA as well as making yearly medical mission trips to Paraguay to help those in need.
