Dr. Duncan started his dental career at birth in the town of Bishop, CA. His father was one of a handful of dentists in town and his mother a dental hygienist. He would frequently assist his father on weekend emergencies and would find himself in the dental office after school on most weekdays. Through this continuous exposure to dentistry and his love for working with his hands and helping others, it seemed a perfect fit. During his final year of dental school at the University of the Pacific, Dr. Duncan was chosen to participate in the Complex Care Clinic where he completed 5 full mouth reconstruction cases and restored over 40 dental implants, he then knew that Prosthodontics was where his passion lies. He worked for one year as a general dentist in Orange County and traveled up to Bishop twice a month to work with his father to learn a few tricks of the trade that only 30 years of practice had taught his father. Dr. Duncan completed a three year residency in Prosthodontics at the University of Southern California earning the Alex Koper Scholarship for being the top of his class. After graduation Dr. Duncan commuted from his home in Huntington Beach to Beverly Hills to practice at an established Prosthodontics, Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry office while teaching at USC in the Graduate Prosthodontics department and Undergraduate Implant department for two years. At this point his longtime friend, colleague, and neighbor Vince Thomas called with some sad news. After battling melanoma for years it was time for him to sell his practice. The next week Dr. Duncan was running Dr. Thomas’ practice in Huntington Beach, and purchased the practice 4 months later.

The fit has been perfect as many of the staff that worked with Dr. Thomas can still be found at Harbor Prosthodontics, and Dr. Duncan’s commute was cut from 2 hours down to 3 minutes. The attention to quality care and patient comfort are two of the philosophical pillars that still permeate the practice and will continue to flourish. Dr. Duncan is currently part of the Western Region Mini Residency Factually for the largest international dental implant company that focuses on implant and restorative dentistry. He is also a leader and advisor to seven different southern California dental study clubs where he is able to teach local dentists improved patient care. In his free time Dr. Duncan enjoys being with his two children, Jack and Ella.
